In a recent blog post by Robert Stroud, he discusses the relevancy of the ITIL CMDB in the era of the cloud. The question seemed to stir up a lot of emotions around cloud and standards (or the lack thereof). It seems to me that cloud could take a page out of the ITIL handbook…literally. With cloud, it is absolutely necessary to employ effective processes, policies and control. And that’s what ITIL is all about. Perhaps it’s time for ITIL and cloud to join forces. We shouldn’t be abandoning our old ways of doing things, but evolve them to address the hybrid world we live in today.
